Having recently moved from the East to West coast of the US, I can relate. What she is really saying is that all of the differences are puzzling, unfamiliar, beyond her comprehension and really, upsetting because of these unknowns. This makes her feel panicked and maybe that her life is so different that she can no longer relate to that as well. It is a challenging place to be, not that she needs sympathy, but that she would benefit most from writing or saying this, or simply admitting this truth to someone, somehow, until it is no longer true for her.
