I have said it once and I will say it again – musicians these days do not seem to compare much to the musicians of old.  It’s not that we do not get good music today but I have to admit that majority of new music today do not have the lasting value that music decades ago have.  Take for example Bob Dylan, who was part of that generation of musicians who was able to leave their own legacy.  His music spans generation.

Dylan Tube is a testament of his legacy.  A blog that is all about Dylan, his music, life, and performances, Dylan Tube is maintained by a relatively young person.  Expect a lot of footage in the blog – something that Dylan fans will certainly enjoy.

  1. I agree; new music today is not as recognized or as classic as music from previous decades is. There are so many new, different bands of different genres today that it is hard to name one band that dominates the current decade. Rock music used to be the dominating genre of music, with raw instrumentals and powerful solos. Technology has influenced new music so much, that it’s hard to find a band today that sounds as good in concert as they do in recordings. When we look back 20 years from now, will the new bands today have made a lasting impact on our decade? Or will we forever see bands and artists such as Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, the Who, Led Zeppelin, and Aerosmith as being some of the greatest bands of all time? These classic bands and musicians are what influenced new music today, and it’s almost as if nothing written today can be as good. I think Dylan Tube is an awesome way to keep one of those legends alive.

  2. The quality of songs are getting worse as time rolls along in my opinion… at least the sound of them anyway. I don’t think new music will stand the test of time and I think songs like ‘Blowing in the wind’ will be around for thousands of years to come.
I try to compliment Bob on DylanTube so I think it is a good source for tasteful videos of Bob Dylan.
