When I was going through this blog, an old memory flashed in my head. I was a sophomore in college, and we were taking a long exam for our humanities class. One of the items required us to write an essay of at least 500 words. I was ecstatic. I preferred (and still do) essay exams over drills. My friend, who sat next to me, was devastated, though. While she could write reasonably well, it took her hours to come up with 500 words.
