Are you an aspiring writer who has been dreaming of getting published? The bad news is that there is so much competition out there, and it make take all you’ve got – and more – to get noticed by the major publishing houses. The good news is that there are a lot of other options when it comes to getting published.
One of them is by self-publishing. Outskirts Press Blog (Self Publishing News) is a great place to look around in this regard. It provides a lot of information that any author will find useful. You can read about happenings in the self-publishing industry, book awards, marketing, design and style ideas, and more. For sure, this blog is an excellent resource for writers – published or not.

The battle of the sexes seems to be part and parcel of every nation’s history, to one degree or another. On the one hand, we have some males who hold to the belief that the female is the weaker sex. On the other hand, there are some females who believe the exact opposite. Then there are those who take on more moderate stances.
Women’s Power – as the blog’s name implies – takes a close look at history and the relations between the two genders. While the title comes on very strongly as leaning towards feminists, it actually aims to empower everyone, just like its main web site, www.bastola.org. The web site and the blog are both promoting a book that touches on these topics, and invites you to check out their perspective.

Lest you see a pattern, let me just say that it is such a wonderful coincidence that I came upon two blog submissions for blog relating to language one after the other. Again, let me reiterate the importance of language for me. Reading – which is totally related – is another significant part of my life. I believe that children should learn to love reading as early as possible. With that kind of passion, they will grow up learning so many things and carry a good attitude towards learning through their adult life.
On Words is a blog that highlights these principles. It is a blog about kids, books, and words. Janet Ann Collins, the blogger, is actually an educator herself, and writes as well. Can it get any better than that?

I love books – that’s all I can say! And when I saw an email submission of a blog by a bookstore, I couldn’t help myself. I just had to visit that blog and give it a once over. Unsurprisingly, I found myself giving it more than a once over.
Bookbroads is the blog of a small bookstore called Broadway Books. Located in NE Broadway, Portland, Oregon, this bookshop seems to offer a great selection of books despite its size. In the blog, you can read up on the latest offerings as well as the other activities that the bookstore are carrying out. It is a good blog to visit for useful information if you live in the area.

Different people have different ways of relaxing. After a long day’s work, some people look forward to a long hot bath to wash away the day’s tensions. Some people prefer to party to relax. Other people look forward to a weekend of relaxation with a book and a cup of good java. For those who fall under the last group, you might want to pay Stories That Read You a visit. This is the blog of author Steven Clark Bradley. Though not all of the books would fall under the mindless reading material category, you would surely find something interesting and relevant to read. Find out more about the stories and books – things that you would not find in the regular publications.
