The Plus Size Advocate

Sometimes I wish that we were back in the times when being skinny as a pole was not the “in” thing. While there have been (good) changes in the way society perceives weight issues, we have to admit that skinny is still what’s considered appealing for many. What about “big boned” people like me??? ;)

Likeminded people, check out The Plus Size Advocate, and learn to accept yourself for who you are. It is not some sort of propaganda or something that makes excuses for being unfit and unhealthy. It is about facing reality and making the best out of what has been given to you. It is about fashion and the politics surrounding the plus size issue. It is something that you might have been looking for.

Mental Health Connect

Mental health is something that more and more people around the world are becoming concerned about. Perhaps it is because the pace and quality of life have changed a lot over the years. Perhaps we are experiencing a greater degree of mental issues. Whatever the reason may be, mental health is definitely one of the biggest issues in today’s global society.

Mental Health Connect is a one useful blog with regard to this issue. It is actually the blog of TheMHS Conference, one of the largest mental health conferences in Australia. As such, it has a bias towards Australian culture. However, there is a lot of information to be found in the blog, which transcends culture and nationality. It is definitely worth checking out.

City Geisha

Asian? Crazy about beauty and fashion tips? Then City Geisha is a blog that should be in your bookmarks! This blog is all about “the hottest trends, makeup trends, and beauty products” focusing on the Asian market. Anyone who knows the slightest thing about make up and beauty products would know that NOT all of them are made the same. (Even I, an ignoramus in this respect, have a vague idea about the differences in Western and Asian skin.)

Written and maintained by a Vietnamese-French woman who grew up in California and now lives in London, the blog is filled to the brim with all sorts of information on anything and everything about beauty and fashion. You will even find posts on health and fitness – everything that a woman wants in today’s fashionable world.

Natural Cures

These days, there seems to be more diseases than we can count. From physical to mental and emotional disorders, people seem to be getting more and more of them. Perhaps it is due to the changing environment we live in. Perhaps it is due to other reasons. Yet no matter what the reason may be, the fact remains that we need to find solutions to these problems.

Natural Cures is a blog that offers an alternative perspective to various diseases and disorders that exist today. From cancer to depression, this blog showcases cures that may be found in nature. While I understand that not everyone is “into” this thing, some of you might find what you are looking for. The blog is relatively new, so do not expect tons of content yet. I am hoping that there will be more in the future, though.

Balanced Immune Health

Have you been paying attention to your health lately?  I am sure that you have been bombarded enough by the media about being healthy but sometimes it takes more than advertisements, article, and TV programs to get you started.  This month, one of my colleagues had a run in with gout and arthritis.  We are of the same age and we basically have the same lifestyle and naturally, this prompted me to re-examine my own health situation.

In my quest to start living healthily, I ran across this blog called Balanced Immune Health.  I like this blog because the point of view is more than losing weight for aesthetic purposes – it is not the run of the mill health blog.  It also injects humor and practical advice, which always makes thing more fun.
