The outdoor patio at my new Starbucks Japan office space got a bit chilly today, so I went inside to warm up with a Grande Cafe Mocha and sit at one of my choice of 30 or so warm indoor desks. Come to find out that the Wi-Fi connection is not available inside the Starbucks, but only outside.
What gives? Seems the Wi-fi is not Starbucks oriented, but from a hotel next door. No sweat, still have my mobile modem for inside work. The Starbucks blogging experiment is still running fine, although the staff is starting to clean the tables around me more when I’m here for over 2 hours.
Don’t think they are trying to nudge me away. I think the notion of a 6’5″ American sitting in Starbucks, working on a laptop, and drinking coffee is intriguing to the staff.
