The Linguistics Zone is a linguistics blog for the everyday user, not overly technical at all. Language is an aspect of everyday life and our purpose is to examine the nuances of languages. There are many interesting, fun things that involve language, and many of these will be discussed on this blog informally.
Some of the topics that will be covered:
* why words aren’t spelled the way they’re sound
* letter combinations in English (vs. other languages)
* made-up languages
* why we say certain phrases
* “x” and “z” spelling
* insertion of numbers into names
