Ticket Retails

Who wants free tickets? Who doesn’t? For every event you go to – musical, sporting, or theatrical – I am sure that you would not mind one bit if you had free tickets; or discounted ones for that matter.

Actually, one thing that I really like about the Internet is the fact that you can find all sorts of discounts and freebies online. And this is what Ticket Retails is all about. It does not actually give out these tickets or discounts, but it sure does give you a lot of information that can point you in the right direction. Even better, it is updated frequently and regularly, ensuring fresh info. Oh, and you get other topics thrown here and there as a plus. What are you waiting for?

Indie Rock Sycophants

Merriam-Webster defines “sycophant” as one who is “a servile self-seeking flatterer.” And that is what you would find in this “baby” blog. Indie Rock Sycophants is the result of the collective effort of a group of people who are “fed up by the current state of modern media culture.”

I am sure that there are a LOT of people who feel the same way, and if you are one of them, this blog just might be a place for you. Majority of the posts are about music, and I have to be honest and say that I had not heard of many of the groups mentioned. It was a learning experience, and there is a lot to be learned here, make no mistake about that.

The Music Snob

Snobs abound in this life, and music snobs are not that rare either. If you consider yourself on, then visit this blog: The Music Snob. Matt, the blogger, has a real passion for music as an art form. He does not take kindly to ignorance. Neither does he seem to like it when music is not treated in the way he thinks it should be (look for the post on American Idol).

This blog offers rants – I saw lots of them, and they were quite enlightening and entertaining at the same time – as well as reviews, playlists, and lots of other things about the world of music. As he says himself, Matt’s blog covers many types of music but focuses on rock n’ roll.

Oldish Psych & Prog

Music is a universal language, or so they say. Despite that line being cliché, I do think that it holds a lot of truth. Go anywhere in this world and you will see that music is very much part of people’s lives in general. And just as language as we know it evolves continuously, so does music.

There are certain kinds of music that do not seem to fade away, however. No matter how much time goes by, no matter how many generations have come and gone, there are songs that will remain. And how to discover these songs? Try the Internet!

For those of you who are into a different kind of music, visit Oldish Psych & Prog, where you can discover “Oldish rock music presumably: beat, psychedelic, garage, progressive.”

Lyrist 101

Have you ever fancied yourself as a singer or a songwriter?  I myself am a frustrated guitar cum piano player.  I know the basics, I learned when I was a kid, but it seems that I do not have that spark to take things one step further.  But hey, we can always keep trying right?

If you want a nudge in the right direction, you should take a look at Lyrist 101, a fairly new blog which features all sorts of things about writing songs.  You can find tips, news, and other information that can help you get started on your songwriting career.  I have to say that some of the information is quite technical but there great examples which make understanding the posts easier.
